Rubblebucket Year of the Banana Tour

Titanic 2

Caroline Rose 2024 Tour
Caroline sent me this wild sketch of projectors shooting through layers upon layers of fabric, blasting out in a flying V. Then I built the dang thing! We spent half a week in rehearsal with them frantically airdropping me videos they had shot, I mixed in a bunch of my own plus a healthy portion of niche youtube, and I edited it into this big long show :) programed the lights as well. Incredibly proud of how this turned out! CJ Harvey, Jade Skye-Hammer, Jenny Alice Watts, Laura Lee Buhman, Sara Melvin took the pictures!

Waterwheel 2

Just obsessed with waterwheels for some reason! The first one wasn't big enough >:)

Big Treehouse

Edward Normalhands
My 10th X-Mas musical with MoHA in Austin, TX. I designed and lit the sets! Got to make a spinning 5G tower that could collaspe into a pile! Also it oozed foam! Ismael Quintanilla III shot these pictures!

Wedding Inflatable
Designed and built this fun inflatable for a wacky desert wedding! Budget was very tight so this is just 44 shower curtains, 13 rolls of Gorilla Tape and a blower! Jen Gavin helped with fabrication! William Kennedy programed the lights inside!

Rubblebucket Earth Worship Tour
Designed the stage and programmed / ran lights for this tour!

The Shabooming

Like our 9th Christmas musical! Wow!! The incredible performance trio Shaboom adapted the script and starred in it! I designed and lit the sets. Zac Treager produced the show! Erika Rich took these Photos!

Cave
Built and painted this cave structure in like 4 sleepless days. 38 gallons of black high gloss paint! Concept by Jen Gavin and Hank Pruett. Jen did all the electronics, Tyler Walker did the sound design, and a whole bunch of people made all the little light up mushrooms.

Unidentified Flying Cowboy Hat
Designed this prototype for a Rich Aucoin tour. The assignment was UFO cowboy hat (he was performing as a "space cowboy" at the time ;) ) but the whole thing needs to take up like 1/3 of a carry on bag. Enter tent poles and spandex. The idea was it was going to be projection mapped onto! But we never used it! Still proud of it though :) Jen Gavin did the sewing.

Live in America
Collaborated with Zac Traeger, Dominic Rabalias, and Adrian Aguilera to design, build, and paint / decorate a modular performance space for Live in America, a new festival for 2023 in Bentonville, AR. The stages, lighting towers, and front of house (sound / light / video controls) were all on wheels, each night of the 8 day festival had a completely different set up, from one giant stage, to two versus stages, to runway configuration, to bingo flying v, to T formation AKA redacted runway (shown here), to island formation, to thunderdome formation, and more! I also lit the shows and made the inflatable eyeballs on the roof! Samantha Farnsworth took these photos!

Christmas Carol 2060: Tanline Steamroller
After a Covid break our Christmas Musical returned! We did a version of A Christmas Carol set in the year 2060! This one was the most interactive with a bunch of activities throughout. I designed the set, lit the show, and forumulated the show concept with Paul Kruse and Zac Traegger. Erica Nix took these photos!

Mystery Yard
I curated an art installation show in my backyard! Seven cool worlds in the various treehouses, domes, and zones of my yard! Outside of the structures, I designed, assembled, and programed the treehouse lamps and built the seesaw! You can see a complete list of collaborators by clicking on the video and entering youtube world.

Unpaved Paradise
During big covid Zac Traeger and I forwent our traditional Christmas musical and built an experimental drive in movie theater in the parking lot of The Museum of Human Achievement. We brought on Maggie and Edan Wibler and together built and muraled a long welcome tunnel! We did almost a month of programming in the winter and spring, with a new event each night. We did speed dating, versus screenings, board games, Valentine's Day, Purim, game shows, car drag, a math competition, the traditional mall santa lap visit but I made a 40' tall inflatable santa scultpure / costume that you could drive your entire car onto the lap of and tell me what you want for christmas, and so much more. Because of covid all of the events and activities were done entirely from inside your car with the help of walkie talkies, multiple radio transmitters, and two movie screens!

Dog Blanket 2!
I love Orbit!

Welcome to Witchtown!

Dome
Jen and I built this cool dome out of wood, pvc, chicken wire, and spray foam during deep lockdown. Sort of a confusing thing to take pictures of but basically there's like an outdoor living room couch zone downstairs, then you go up a ladder into a small 3 season room / bedroom situation. The walls are big wooden panels that hinge up for cross breeze and the roof is the dome. It's quite nice in there even into October :) All the OSB was pulled out of construction dumpsters and the doors were also rescued from the trash for earth health ;)

Bamboo Bridge
I always thought the bamboo scaffolding in Rush Hour 2 was so cool so I decided to build some of my own. Wasn't sure how long it'd last outside so this was a big experiment. Eventually I started dipping the bamboo in surplus exterior house paint for a little extra weather proofing. Need to take some pictures of the final product! Here are some in progress photos!

MoHA Alone
Another Christmas Musical!! I designed the set and lit the show :) :) These pictures were shot by HanknTank, Olivia Vale, Randy Urry, and Taylor Prewitt!!

Inflatable Entry
Built for a music festival! Come on in!

Dog Blanket
I made this blanket for my friend Victoria to commemorate the time she showed me a slow motion video of her dog drinking water. The flipped over tongue thing is so wild. RIP Petunia
the dog blanket design

Balloon Octopi
Been making these aquatic friends for a few years for various bands! Running out and throwing them into the audience at the opportune time!

An octopus made out of balloonsa purple octopus made out of baloons

Light Boxes
Designed these wooden boxes with Jen Gavin (Paradise Midi) to hold 4 LED pars with power and wireless DMX all run internally. Cuts set up down to a quarter of the time. The ~almost~ identical but not quite position of each light allows for cool shadow effects. Strobe warning for the end of the video!

Batman Returns Returns
Holy crow MoHA and I did our 5th Christmas Pageant in Austin Texas in December 2018. Here are some pictures of mostly the set I designed and lit!

Rubblebucket Sun Machine Tour
Here's some footage from Rubblebucket's 2018 fall tour! The band and I collaborated on stage design, then I built and programmed lights for it. Most of this was shot from the lighting board while running lights! Sorry for the shake! ;)

Lasers Like Show
For the 2018 Terror Pigeon show I did a sort of laser show with high lumen projectors and haze. After using lasers and spot fixtures with gobos for a while and finding them to be too generic and not customizable enough I got two 5k projectors and started animating line and shape videos for them to project from upstage through my silhouette and out above the audience!

Moving Laser Like Show
But on bigger stages I found their stationary nature to be a big bummer. I could only cover so much area. I missed the way moving head spots can fill a space. So I asked my mechanics wizard friend Jen Gavin to build these rad boxes! They recieve dmx wirelessly and can spin in either direction at variable speeds. The first video is a pretty basic showcase of their functionality, the second one is how they work in the show!

Midi Guitar Light Controller
Here's a little program I built for a cool midi guitar thing called an Artiphon. Each fret is a different chord / color, moving across the rainbow as the chords ascend. There's a gyroscope in the base I have mapped to the Y axis movement of the lights. As you bring the guitar up in a cool rockstar pose the lights do a "flyout" moving up and blinding the audience (but in the cool way ;)) Just imagine how good this would be if I could play guitar at all! Strobe warning for the second half of the video!

Live Hard
For our 4th Christmas pageant The Museum of Human and Achievement and I did Live Hard (Die Hard: The Musical) I did the script in conjuction with MoHA, Boss Babes, Sarah Loucks, and Katie Bender, then built the sets and lit the show. Tina Sparkles, Stephanie Page, Emily Gilardi, and Jess Bee made the incredible costumes! Erica Pallo took all these pictures!

Squeeze Tunnel

A 20 foot long squeezing tunnel I built for a haunted house! Some people loved the feeling! Others hated it!

Chamber of Secrets for 1 Music Video
Here's a Terror Pigeon music video that I built the sets / costumes for, shot, and edited.

Apart Music Video
I did lights for this Yohuna music video!

Inflatables
Here's a few different inflatables I made! Some you can go inside, most have lights or do video things! Most of them are used for Terror Pigeon performances!

2015 TP / MoHA / Present Company Christmas Pageant
Here's some cool pics of the Christmas Pageant we threw in Austin at the end of 2015! It's a Christmas Carol, but every ghost was a band and it ended with a real feast in the Cratchit house! I conceptualized the show and made the sets. Shout out MoHA for hosting / facilitating and Present Company for wrangling the best actors in all the land!! Pics by Recspec!

Rubblebucket Live Projection Work
Here's some pictures and video of the video content I created and ran for Rubblebucket's 2014 Survival Sounds tour.

Light Installation for Babycastles 14th St Gallery

Zorchbrella
Conceptualized by Zorch, built by Zac and I!

Rooftop Cop Installation
Here's some pics of a rad cave system I built for Stephen Clark's MFA Thesis. It housed a collection of video games called Rooftop Cop. There was a cool snow place, a cathedral for one and a nice little mountain top thing. It was all very dark :( :( :( :( :( but here's what I got: the entrance, the cathedral dome and one picture of the installation's skeleton.

Terror Pigeon Robot Lights

The Jungle @ Babycastles Summit
With the help of some very cool buds I turned the 7th floor of the Museum of Art and Design in NYC into a jungle. Babycastles and Keita Takahashi outfitted it with very cool video games. For the videos the first is a vid with a chiptune performance in the middle of it. Second is a short video that includes a lot of the set up / tare down.

Cat Car.
There was a whole cat world we built in France. It was very cool but not my idea. I did build the fuck out of this car though. You could get in it and chill.

Rubblebucket Robot Puppets

Rubblebucket Light Vests

TP Powerglove
taking the whole running around with lights thing to it's logical conclusion

TP Light Up Blazers

16 blazers sewn arm to arm (so you kind of have to hold hands) with battery powered LEDs running along the shoulders and arms. The first suit had controls for the lights.

TP Light & Strobe Suitcases
I got really into the idea of an instant light set up for shows and began mounting all my lighting inside of suitcases. To setup at shows I only needed to hang them on tripods and plug them into my control board. The real fun began when we started running around with them.

TP Light Backpack
Battery powered mobile lighting rig for shows on the move!

TP Stuffed Animal Suit
lady gaga ended up making one of these 2 years later :(

Other TP Costumes
Maxotaur, Pizza Slice, and Human Lighthouse

Terror Pigeon ETC
A pretty cool mylar backdrop that changes highlight color with lights, an 11 foot christmas tree that you can ride around on (it had wheels and shit), a still from a music video, and an asteroid colliding with earth at new years.

Artist's Studio
Here's a picture of the laundry room I used to live in. There's a trombone coming out of a snowman's butt.

it's over!
